“By 2022, only 15 countries had included AI learning objectives in their national curricula,” says the App Inventor Foundation’s Dr. Natalie Lao and her co-authors in their UNESCO AI Competency Framework for Students. Lao, who serves as the Foundation’s CEO and Executive Director, has been a close RAISE affiliate and drew upon the pedagogical methodologies of RAISE’s DAILy curriculum.
In fall of 2024, UNESCO published this framework, along with one for teachers. For students, the drafters emphasized four types of competencies and respective levels of mastery:
