In 2017, I began an incredible journey with the CoolThink@JC project as a Teaching Ambassador. As a university student, I worked alongside primary school teachers to bring a pioneering computational thinking and coding curriculum into classrooms. My role was to co-teach lessons, supporting both teachers and students as they explored coding concepts and problem-solving skills. These experiences were transformative, not only for the students and teachers but also for me, as I discovered my passion for education and innovation.
As I grew within the program, so did my responsibilities. I became a Senior Teaching Ambassador, taking on leadership roles that allowed me to make a broader impact. I mentored new ambassadors, trained teachers, and co-designed learning materials to ensure the curriculum remained engaging and effective. I also worked closely with parents, conducting workshops to help them understand computational thinking and how they could support their children’s learning at home. These opportunities pushed me to grow personally and professionally, equipping me with valuable skills in communication, collaboration, and creativity.
The four years I spent with CoolThink@JC left a profound mark on me. The program inspired me to pursue a career in education, and the expertise I developed helped me successfully enroll in a teacher training program. Today, I am proud to serve as a Math and ICT teacher at HKUGA Primary School, where I actively promote computational thinking and AI education. My experiences with CoolThink@JC continue to guide me as I empower my students to think critically, solve problems creatively, and embrace technology as a tool for innovation.
I am deeply grateful to The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust and MIT for their vision and leadership in launching CoolThink@JC. Their dedication to advancing education has transformed countless classrooms across Hong Kong, including mine. This program has not only impacted students and teachers but has also shaped my personal and professional journey, inspiring me to carry forward its mission of empowering the next generation.
