Last week at the World Governments Summit in Dubai, Cynthia Breazeal, director of MIT RAISE, spoke to a defining challenge for governments.

There are 1.8 billion young people aged 10–24, the largest youth generation in history, and they already know AI will shape their futures. What’s missing is a human-led vision for how AI can serve the public good.

The opportunity is clear: invest now in scalable AI education and workforce pathways that pair AI literacy with durable human skills. MIT’s Day of AI and PATH (Pathways in AI for Training and Hiring) offer tools to help governments prepare students, educators, and workers to engage with AI responsibly and productively.

The result is stronger institutions, a more competitive economy, and a society better equipped to shape how AI is designed and governed.
