Overview
Day of AI Australia brings free, curriculum-mapped AI education to classrooms nationwide, showcasing Australian case studies and empowering students, with a focus on reaching girls, First Nations students, and those in low-socioeconomic areas, to explore, question, and shape the future of AI.
Day of AI Australia is a national initiative bringing world-class, curriculum-aligned AI education to primary and secondary classrooms across the country. Built in partnership with MIT RAISE and delivered locally with UNSW, the program is specifically designed for the Australian education context, featuring case studies of Australian scientists and organisations, tailored curriculum links for each state and territory, and learning materials aligned with the Australian Curriculum.
Since its launch in 2022, Day of AI Australia has reached over 100,000 students from Years 1–10, providing free, hands-on resources that explore not only how AI works, but its real-world impact, from elections and ethics to sustainability and creative industries. The program includes an annual Student Challenge, where students apply their learning to real-world community problems, with top teams progressing to the Dolphin Tank – a pitch and prototyping experience supported by mentors and industry judges.
Day of AI Australia also runs the Classroom Champions program, placing university students studying Computer Science, AI/ML of engineering from our eight partner universities into state schools (particularly in low-SES and regional areas) to deliver the program and serve as diverse, relatable STEM role models. All resources are designed to be inclusive, accessible, and engaging for both teachers and students, ensuring no classroom is left behind in Australia’s AI future.
